Ceviches – S. Armenia Ave at Azeele Street, Tampa
What a great time we had at Ceviches SoHo last Wednesday 6/14! Ceviches is located on S. Armenia Ave at Azeele Street and occupies a former bungalow that is surrounded by lush tropical landscaping providing a calming atmosphere 1 block removed from the heart of the hustle bustle college crowd on S. Howard Ave. The space contains numerous rooms and alcoves furnished with various sizes & shapes of tables as well as a few leather couch cubbies scattered throughout in which to hide out. There is an outdoor wooden deck with a retractable roof and tables fronting a bubbling fountain pool focal point and also a private connected banquet room available for large parties.
Manager Bob Kirby and his Assistant Mgr. Ahmed really treated us to a good time with a wide spread of tapas appetizers and house wines & sangria. Everything was so delicious and I was lucky to sample all of them: Seafood Ceviche de la Casa, Albondigas (Chorizo, pork & veal meatballs), Patatas Bravas (spicy potatoes), Calamares Y Gambas Fritos (calamari); but if forced to choose, my favorites were the Filetito (Filet mignon) and the Chuletas de Cordero (Baby lamb chops) – so much so we ordered a couple more of those 2 afterwards!
A TREMENDOUS Thank-you to our bartender Ms. Devi, who kept us well-watered. She was personable and absolutely amazing, handling the whole restaurant solo!
Single guys take note, this is where the sophisticated ladies hang out; that evening we saw tables of 6, 8, 10…. ladies enjoying Happy Hour!! Happy Hour occurs every evening from 5-7PM, Tapas Tuesdays specials and Wino Wednesdays offer ½ off bottles of wine. Friday nights feature a samba band with flamenco dancers and Saturday is Latin night – both nights from 10PM-12:45AM so bring your dancing shoes! Free Valet parking weekdays, $3 on Fri/Sat.
